Silhouette at Sunset
Are you taking a family vacation? If you are heading to a beach, be sure to try out this great photo idea – a silhouette at sunset!
Here’s how:
First ensure that the flash is turned off on your camera. It is important to have as little light in front of your family as possible. Position yourself to have the light source (in this case the sunset) coming from the background. Since a silhouette has no inner detail, make sure your family members are spread out from each other and not standing in front anyone or anything (this will merge the shapes). Some cameras are setup to automatically adjust the lighting and exposure of your subjects, this may interfere with this photo style. A way around this is to focus on the well lit area of the photo (typically by lightly holding down the button). Without letting go, reposition the camera to aim at your subject and then click – try it out!
